Tinidazole is in a class of medications called antiprotozoal agents. Tinidazole (2 g single oral dose) use in trichomoniasis has been well documented in 34 published reports from the world literature involving over 2,800 patients treated with tinidazole. Tinidazole 50 mg/kg single dose and metronidazole 15 mg/kg three times a day for seven days were given orally to children. Parasitological cure was documented when there was 3 times negative stool examination for giardiasis at 1-2 weeks after therapy. Tinidazole was determined by the agar-diffusion technique using a strain of Clostridium bifermentans . Reliable estimates of concentrations down to 0.5 g/ml could be obtained.

Tinidazole is as effective as metronidazole in the treatment of infections caused by trachomoniasis.

Metronidazole has been widely used to treat various parasitic infections, pseudomembranous colitis, anaerobic infections, acne rosacea , Helicobacter pylori and Crohn's disease. Metronidazole comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken two or three times a day for 5-10 days or longer. It is a non-aqueous titration method using perchloric acid as titrant and malachite green as indicator for the assay of metronidazole.
Metronidazole cream is for external use only. Contact with the eyes should be avoided. Metronidazole resistance in Helicobacter pylori reportedly occurs by mutational inactivation of the oxygen-insensitive nitroreductase gene rdxA . Metronidazole can also be used to prevent infection following gynaecological surgery and surgery on the gut.
Metronidazole will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. Metronidazole elution from PMMA was dose dependent. Copolymerization of metronidazole and gentamicin sulfate in PMMA resulted in increased rates of elution. Metronidazole is known to accumulate in patients with liver dysfunction and can cause peripheral neuropathy and central nervous system (CNS) dysfunction; these effects may take up to two years to completely resolve.
Metronidazole dosages should be reduced in patients with liver dysfunction to prevent the accumulation of metronidazole, which can lead to CNS dysfunction and peripheral neuropathy.Metronidazole is processed by the liver and may cause increased toxicity if given to a patient with enough liver disease to inhibit processing of the medication.
Treatment should be stopped if no clear clinical improvement is evident after the first 3-4 months. Treatment of BV in pregnancy has mixed effects on the risk of preterm delivery, which some hypothesize is due to variable antibiotic efficacy for the fastidious bacteria. Both oral and intravaginal metronidazole can be used to treat bacterial vaginosis in pregnancy, but little is known about the impact of different routes of antibiotic administration on concentrations of fastidious vaginal bacteria.

However, blood tests conducted in routine physicals do not include tests for hepatitis C. Hepatitis is caused by a number of things including alcohol, drugs, chemicals, and viral infections. If the inflammation of the liver continues at least six months or longer, it is called chronic hepatitis.

Hepatitis C is a serious, often chronic and potentially fatal disease that afflicts approximately 4-5 million Americans and is the #1 reason for liver transplants. Many of these Americans are health care workers that were exposed to infected patients. Hepatitis C can be sexually transmitted, but this is thought to be uncommon. It can be passed on through sharing toothbrushes and razors. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is transmitted from person to person through blood or other body fluids.

Alcoholic hepatitis is a complex problem and is a precursor to chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. If an individual develops alcoholic hepatitis and abstains from drinking, the inflammation is often reversible over time. Alcoholic hepatitis has been established as an important precursor to the formation of cirrhosis.

Persons with chronic hepatitis have a greater chance of getting certain types of liver disease, such as cirrhosis (hardening) of the liver and cancer of the liver. Persons with hepatitis A can spread the virus to household members or to sexual partners. Casual contact—as in the usual office, factory, or school setting—does not spread the virus.

Inject or snort drugs or have done so in the past. The risk increases if you share needles, straws, pipes, spoons, cookers and other drug equipment which could be contaminated with blood. Injecting drugs using shared syringes or equipment is the leading cause of hepatitis C, and the majority of people who inject drugs are infected. Psoriasis is being looked at more and more as a marker or risk factor for many other serious conditions. Psoriasis may be inherited as an autosomal dominant and may be seen running in some families. Evidence has been presented for single gene autosomal dominant inheritance with reduced penetration.

Psoriasis is accompanied by high concentrations of arachidonic acid in the plaques and profound changes in the metabolism of eicosanoids leading to an increase in proinflammatory agents. It is known that eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) counteracts the formation of these proinflammatory agents and some studies have shown that oral supplementation with fish oils benefits psoriasis patients. Some people have frequent flare-ups that occur weekly or monthly. Psoriasis isn't contagious, though it looks like it might be. Entamoeba histolytica is one of a number of species of small amoebae which live in the alimentary canal of humans. These are usually harmless protozoa, feeding on bacteria and particles in the intestine. Entamoeba histolytica has four nuclei in the cyst, a central endosome, forms a cyst, and can be a tissue invader. The amoeboid trophozoites can live in the intestinal crypts, feeding on intestinal contents and host tissue, and multiplying by fission. Entamoeba histolytica is a protozoan which causes a disease known as amoebic dysentery. This protozoan can also cause abscesses in the liver. Entamoeba histolytica is an early branching human enteric parasite that infects an estimated 500 million people and is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality.

Amebiasis is a parasitic illness that begins in the intestine. Amebiasis (or amoebiasis) is the name of the infection caused by Enamoba. Infections that sometimes last for years may be accompanied by no symptoms (in the majority of cases), vague gastrointestinal distress, and dysentery (with blood and mucus). Amebiasis is predominantly seen in developing countries where a high prevalence of infection is due to fecal contamination of food and water supply, factors that cannot be immediately remedied due to limited financial resources in these countries. There is no vaccine against amebiasis and although it can be treated with nitroimidazole, side effects are common and resistance has been observed in other protozoa.

Trophozoites were incubated with human RBCs at 37 degees C for different times (2 to 120 min). At the end of the incubation times, the culture medium was removed and trophozoites were washed with PBS and fixed with 3% (w/v) paraformaldehyde.
